Wind Energy: Technical

Vigor is currently developing its first commercial wind generation system. The GHT used for the 3kW unit is 3.25 meters in diameter and 6 meters in height. The 5 kW unit is 4.5 meters in diameter and 6 meters in height.

Each complete unit will weigh approximately 900 kilograms. These systems are intended for installation on towers and large, flat roofs.

Expected wind velocity is the most important factor to consider when evaluating a site. As seen in the graphs below, the majority of power generation occurs during less frequent times of higher wind speeds.

Vigor offers services to set up anemometers to measure your windspeeds. This will help you determine the potential energy generation at your site and the payback schedule for your wind investment.

Starting October 2009, the Feed In Tariff Program in Ontario pays 13.5 cents for each kWh generated. See Specifications for more info.
